I had been seeing my boyfriend for 4 months.
I was out drinking with some friends. My ex boyfriend happened to be there. Which my current b/f was aware of
I left the pub I was drinking with, with 3 people. I was
walking with some guy who had just joined us. I didnt really know him.
Then my boyfriend appeared from no where. Smashed
a glass into this guys face. His nose has been badly broken he has a fractured wrist. he then went to attack someone else. He later came round to my house and tried to bash the door down. the police came he was arrested. he hasnt been charged as yet. They are looking to charge him with GBH with intent. he is on probation at the moment for drink driving. And he has previous GBH.
Do you think he will get sent to prison and if so what sort of sentenance? I have not heard or spoken to him since. It was a very frightening experience.

It sounds like a savage unprovoked attack, he will probably do time for it, maybe 12 months, out in 6 months. It should be 5 years and stay in for duration and get buqqered every day he is in there!!
lets hope he gets put away for a long time, sounds like a bit of a headcase, and you would do well to steer clear of him and find yourself a decent law abiding boyfriend. he could get 3/5 yrs for it,but who knows
I think that Ratter15 is being rather optimistic. The vast majority of offences of 'GBH with intent' result in a custodial sentence. Where someone has previously been convicted of GBH, the likelihood of a custodial sentence effectively becomes a certainty.

The most recent figures I can find for the lengths of sentences are for 1993. In that year, the shortest custodial sentence passed was 6 months. The longest was life imprisonment. The average term was 4 years 2 months.

The courts always regard 'glassing' as a serious offence. In view of your boyfriend's previous convictions, I'd guess at a sentence of 4 years.

Buenchico, I was not being optimistic, I was being pessimistic!! I would be happier with 20 years for such an attack.

To be honest why I was with him regarding the drink driving as nothing to do with my question.(when you first meet people, I'm sure you are aware, people don't always tell you the truth straight away)
OF course I am going to court.
My question was what sort of sentenanced could he be
expected to be given. I am obviously very scared and in a very difficult situation. Its been an horrible experience for me. One that I don't wish to go through again.
The maximum sentance for GBH with intent is life imprisonment. I think that given your boyfriend has previous for GBH and is currently on probation anyway, he can expect a custodial sentance and I hope he does, and the longer the better. And I hope that he too, is now your ex!
