Central Locking Issue

Hi,

I bought a second hand motorhome a few weeks ago and the central locking works intermittently.

It was bought through a broker and they have tried to fix it but the problem still persists.

Obviously i want it to work, especially as it is a requirement of the insurance.

Does the broker or seller have a duty to ensure it worked properly. And if so and i got a professional in to fix it can i pass the cost over to either of them. Or do i have to take the hit on fixing it.

The broker told me the previous owner didnt use the central locking and parked between other vehicals which leads me to believe he knew it was dodgy.

Thanks

He sold it knowing it had a serious issue. Who wants to park between other vehicles all the time? A ridiculous statement.  Tell him to get an expert to fix it at his cost or you will want a full refund.

...and if the central-locking isn't working as it should, what else (less obvious) might be problematic?

Can you lock the doors manually one by one? If so I think you might not have a good case. It all depends on what was said when you bought the vehicle too and how old in years and miles it is.

If your insurance specifies it then you need to get it fixed pronto (worst case scenario - unlikely but Plod may consider you uninsured)..

I guess it then depends on how much that costs to decide whether to pursue compensation.

I'd be very surprised if the insurance was specific about CENTRAL locking.

Sorry my mistake. The central locking works but the security alarm/immobiliser is the problem. That is the issue.

Sorry I got confused with what it actually was.
