Some might remember over the last 10 months me asking for advice with my grandson who's now been living with us for 10 months due to parents not caring for him.
Things have dramatically changed, as in after months social services started to take my concerns seriously.
We had a conference meeting yesterday and although originally i thought the outcome was in our favour the more i think about it the more terrified ive become.
At the conference was myself, both parents, two social workers, a police officer, a health visitor, an independent person and the lady who spoke to us all.
To cut a very long story short.
My son stormed of half way through.
We all spoke of our evidence of concern for my grandson (he was physically harmed by my son)
During our process the original SW fed our son confidential information which resulted in her being fired.
This also led to a 3 month delay in our case.
The verdict from the conference was there was a serious concern toward our grandson, he would be put on a child protection plan.
We all had to vote from 1to10 how worried we were if our grandson went back to my sons care.
We all said 1, the police officer actually said zero.
However ive been told today that if my son asks for our grandson back we have to let him take him!
We've to ring SS immediately but it could take 48 hours for them to go check on our grandson!
Surely this can't be right.
They're assessing my son for his mental health, drug abuse.
They've seen serious proof of the harm he caused my grandson.
Is there anything else i can do?
Sorry if i don't make sense

Who has told you that your son can have your grandson back?
Do you have any contact details for those people who attended the conference about his care?
You all only voted '1', am I missing something here ?
I thought that... sound like it should of been 10 not 1 or 0. I;m sure tho its just been explained wrong
Unfortunately I think theres nothing more you can do for now, just have to wait and see the outcome given all the parties involved
I’m so sad reading your story Beaubb30, I hope and pray your little boy doesn’t become another statistic in the cogs in wheels of SS,, I also pray the right decision will be made in your favour xxx
Regarding the scoring, from one county's website

"The professionals will join you in the conference room and everyone will be asked to share what information they have and this will be recorded on a whiteboard by the child protection co-ordinator. Everyone will be asked to share their information in a respectful and non-discriminatory manner.

Once all of the information has been shared everyone will be asked to give a score from 0-10. This is a sliding scale with a score of 0 meaning there is no safety at all and 10 meaning that there is maximum safety. This is known as the Safety Scale."
Not withstanding your financial situation, I would be down to your solicitors on this and ask for an immediate judicial freeze/injunction.

Our social worker told me today that if he asks for our grandson, we've to take him on the condition he gives us a time to go pick him back up.
If he doesn't give our grandson back we've to call them, they will start legal proceedings and have someone out quickly but could take 48 hours!
He's to be assessed for his mental health, assessed for the way he interacts with our grandson, because in 10 months they've been unable to do that.
When SW as been round our grandson as never been with him.
My son's abused two different SW trapping ones foot in the door when kicking her out.
Sorry yes I meant 1 to 10 in how safe we all thought my grandson would be safe if he went back in his care and all said 1 meaning extremely worried.
There was so much damning evidence against him yet if he calls we have to take him back.
Our grandson is terrified of his dad.
It's absolutely horrendous
Get the solicitor involved - if you can't afford it, you may be entitled to legal aid and the lawyer will offer you a free hour for you to outline what has gone on - and proceed from that, my advice still to seek a legal freeze/injunction.

Aww thankyou bobbisox xxx
Your grandson is on the social work conveyor belt
with the case conference, no one can say they are not aware of the risks
I think you should do as the social worker says
You are not exactly on your own on this
Does your grandson have a guardian ad litem or law guardian to represent him. I forget how old he is but if he can express how scared he is oh his father he should be heard. His thoughts and concerns must also be considered

The words: our grandson is terrified of his dad, sends chills. You MUST protect that little boy, he is relying on you.........
and I thought other AB'ers would agree with me on this one ????
where are you all? this little boy is scared?
We all see how dreadful it is I think thewinner but this case has been going on and off for nearly a year and social services are fully involved as well as police. It dont look as if beaubb has a solicitor on this. Getting one might of helped and might still do but might take time, I cant see how a solicitor could be brought up to speed now and change anything short term, it will just complicate things?
I'm just concerned about the little boy. ....
I don't care who is involved, this little boy needs help and is frightened.
I think we all agree on that as would the police and social worker's whose involved in what seems a complicated affair, and we do only have this version of things...the hard bit is thinking of what can be done
