The police are prohibited from revealing any information about anyone's brushes with the law other than under very specific circumstances. (e.g. they're allowed to provide information to a single mother who is concerned that her new partner might have been convicted of child abuse, or of domestic violence, but only subject to very strict rules, with most applications for such information actually being rejected).

However they're not, for example, allowed to tell you that the guy who's just moved in next door to you has multiple convictions for domestic burglary, often on his neighbour's houses. So they're most definitely not permitted to tell anyone that a person has been involved in a crime which led to a statutory resolution order being used.

My thanks to both barry1010 and Buenchico.
that does not mean of course that justice is not public
it often is
but you have to be there to sort of witness it
and there may be newpaper records of the incidents

having been involved in a case where the judge forbade publication of the case details ( jury nobbling ) we still did our duty as a jury and convicted and their sentences got into the papers
