Don’t know if you know, but you can get face coverings/masks which have a symbol on indicating that you are deaf or hard of hearing. (I know you said you weren’t getting on with your badge as it’s too small.) You can also get more obvious ones with ‘I’m deaf, please remove your face covering so I can lip read’. You just need to goggle it.

If anyone sees Jenny Joan about can they point her to this please?

Hope you see this.
thank you Sherrard - will look out for those - they'll be brilliant as I sometimes get a tad embrarrassed asking a person to lift their mask.

I will google but do hope they are bigger than the badge that would have fitted my eye socket.

I am getting my jab this afternoon and hopefully nurse won't have too much to say - except "lift yur jumper".

I thought you were on about me! I was just about to tell you that I am not deaf when I realised you were talking about Jenny Joan!
Just in from surgery where nurse in Astronaut Gear gave me the vaccy. She started asking questions probably about my coat (dont know) - I asked her to lift the mask a little (she said no)

So if I had have had my (new) mask on asking people to lift the mask a little. It's not going to work.
Think she was probably asking if you could be pregnant - hope you didn't nod!
Nurse would just have to look at the face to see no pregnancy definitely.
I think the idea is that once the person is aware you are deaf they can make adjustments, for example writing a question down if they are in a clinical situation and cannot safely unmask.
Could you wear your badge on your mask so it is easier to be seen. Rather than your coat I mean.
lady janine this nurse knows me very well and she just said no and when I sorta was bringing mine down slightly she started to babble - put it up put it up. Wish my Maxie could talk - he could do all this business for me.
How about having one of these made up, you could just use your first name if you did not want to divulge your full name followed by something like ' I am deaf and can only lip read'. It comes with or without a lanyard, and you can just show it to people. They then have the option of removing there mask or writing it down.
It is from Etsy, so reliable Company.

It's sad that JJ only seems to meet uncooperative people, surely they can write a question down?
thanks Ubasses - do have one of those - they don't seem to work cos nobody wants to lift the masks and to be honest I can't really blame them if they are so nervous about the coronavirus. oh dear dear
