I won't advise , the experts will be along soon.
The only way to be sure is to look at the last credit card statement you got; the costs for cash withdrawals will be listed somewhere. If you are lucky there will be zero cost if you are in credit but it does vary from card to card.

I have no idea how to go about doing this
Don't withdraw money on your credit card. Just get what you owe them from your normal debit bank account and send/give it to them. The refund can pay off all/some of your credit card. It's that simple.
Question Author
diddly I have the refund, and owe nothing on my c card, me paying them out of my own account will still see me over £500 out of pocket whilst the same amount sits in my credit card
it will cost to effectively withdraw cash. You paid for all so they must have given you the money, what did you do with that?
Nationwide charge 2.5% for cash withdrawals and then interest until you pay your statement. Halifax make no charge for the withdrawal but charge interest until you pay it off. In other words Nationwide will cost you, Halifax won't. You need to check the details on your own card.
When I had a big credit balance on my credit card I asked them to transfer the balance to the same bank account I use to pay by credit card bill by DD. They did it and there were no fees. Can't remember which card that was unfortunately.

I'll need to do the same again shortly as I'm due a holiday refund - I paid on a cashback card (ASDA) I use only for very big purchases like holidays and I paid the bill in full so I'll have to ask for the money back as I won't be making any similar large purchases for quite some time.
M&S charge 2.99% minimum £3.
Scroll down to the bottom where it says charges:

Sudden thought, if my CC goes into credit they automatically send it back to my linked account, give them a ring to find out.
Maybe see if you can use PayPal but draw the funds from your credit card instead of your balance or bank account (don’t actually know if this works or not).
sherrard, it works but it's still cash from a CC.

Good news I was able to go on Live Chat and it was said if I ring a certain number ,they’d put the money in my current account as it’s “ my money” whatever that means but I have given up trying to ring them as I’ve tried for at least 40 minutes up till now, the Indian call centre must be on lockdown as well, I’ve paid both friends out of my current account as Diddlydo suggested so when I do get through to them, that’ll be my money , nothings easy in these strange times
Thanks all for your help
Would you care to name the airline so we know who is doing it right.
Tell them that the card you originally paid on was cancelled due to being stolen and they'll have to refund it to another card - your debit card if you so wish.

Thanks Lcg

It was Jet2 C@C
Question Author
Oops, just thought, I can’t do that Lcg, as they’d know it hadn’t been replaced wouldn’t they ( my MC issuer)
Oh, dam it, just tell your friends, due to circumstances beyond your control, sadly you have no choice but to go into liquidation. (00)

nice cheap answer from diddly
leave the credit on the credit card and
use you current account to pay them off

drawing money on a cr card is expensive
Question Author
Haha lcg, fortunately I’ve got enough funds to cover me doing that :0/
