As title. It ran out yesterday. I won’t drive it until we come out of lockdown. Is there a negative side to making an SORN declaration?

Thanks in advance

no, as long as you're going to keep it off the road and not use it. Are you certain you won't need to make any emergency trips?

It must be off the road, of course, and can't be used in emergency. If you are going to SORN it you might as well contact your insurance company as you might get a rebate on that too.

Thanks to both for equally good answers!
Remember to park it off the road ie. in your garage/drive
you have to renew a SORN every year or you get fined and they don't send a reminder.
Renew your tax. Go the SORN route you'll have a right old job sorting it out later.
How much is your car tax. Mine is something like £20 a year so the saving seems small unless the lockdown goes on for a year. Easier to just keep it going- and you might need to use the car in an emergency
