what is the difference between the warranties Guarantees and consumer laws? Apparently consumer laws give better protection but how does one activate or use a consumer law? This has arisen from hc4361’s reply! Many thanks, Bramley.

Warranties/guarantees are what the manufacturer says they will provide. But it means nothing if it doesn't equal or exceed your rights under law. You "activate" by informing them you'll take them to court if they don't meet their legal obligations.
