Just got a combat boots but I don't exactly know where to practice, is it legal to use the trees in the woods as long as I know no one is around?

The prime target in the House of Commons I suggest, would be that little chap in the high chair at the far end.

I meant to say bow sorry
Suggest a range, don't think you will know someone is around till you hit them.
I'd definitely suggest a range... also. I'm not sure about the law but you don't want to hit an estranged stealthy straggler.
you could get a stack of haybales in your back yard at a push.
maybe in a Chester churchyard after midnight on a Sunday
An archery range is the only safe option.
If you were to injure, or kill someone or their pet, you would be in very serious trouble.
What an unusual hobby.
Sounds very dangerous, and I agree with the answers above.
"combat boots" notwithstanding, I don't think you should be allowed sharp objects.
A wood or forest is just about the worst place you could shoot a bow, anything or anyone can appear in an instant.
The archers near me practice in what was once the moat of a castle.
Yes of course you can .

If you're deep inside the Amazon rain forest
i'd find it very disconcerting if i saw someone in the woods with a bow
NO.
I think we need to talk about Kevin.
If you are thinking of hunting with it - that is illegal.
I would advise against using a bow on public land of any sort unless you are in an organised activity with safe backstops etc.
On private land where there is no chance of a stray rambler I would say proceed with caution. Arrows can ricochet the same as bullets if fired at trees.
I'd suggest that The House of Commons is the perfect practice area. No chance of hurting anyone intelligent there.
//n the United Kingdom specifically, compound bows themselves are legal, but the use of them anywhere other than a dedicated club is illegal with few exceptions. Bowhunting, in general, is illegal in the United Kingdom as of the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981.//
I would say that using a bow and arrows in a public place could result in your being arrested and, as a starter, charged with being in possession and using a dangerous weapon. Also there is the matter of causing damage to trees and allegations that your prime purpose of being in woodland was to hunt animals and birds.

Hans.
Good suggestion, Bazile.
The locals would surely be happy to assist by displaying their expertise with this particular tool, to this particular tool.
If you plan to shoot any kind of bow in this country then you should be a member of a properly affiliated archery club, or taking part in a properly-run session run by such a club. I'm not sure what a 'combat bow' is, but I would strongly advise you not to shoot it on public land, nor anywhere where proper safety measures are not in place. As has been said earlier, you could find yourself in serious trouble if you did.
