If asked for photographic age verification, can I demand their I.D. The information they seeking may be used in part for Identification Fraud.

Thanks for your opinions. I will offer my drivers licence as proof of I.D. in future, but information other than date of birth and my name and photograph will be obscured.

Not ever having to show photo ID to a delivery driver, do they handle the ID and record details from it or is it just shown to them and they note the type of ID accepted?

One can demand what one likes, and some do. Doesn't mean that the demand will be complied with.

You don't need to show ID either, but there may be consequences.

If the driver can't tell that a 73 year old person is over 18, then he's not shown much initiative. You may well not have photographic evidence; it can't be assumed everyone does. Yes I know there is an argument of a slippery slope, if 73 can avoid ID what about 63, 53, 43, 33, 23, 13... but there are reasonable limits. Probably more than their job's worth.

The driver took the I.D. and while looking at it entered some information into a device. What he enter I have no idea. He then asked me sign across the screen. A bit like signing a letter with text covered, in my opinion. A British licence number is made up of upper case and lower case letters and numbers. Most people could not quote that number without reading from the licence. It is potentially a very desirable piece of identification for fraudsters.

Unsure why that would or should matter. The person the item was delivered to would be over 25. Folk do take things for others. Or are age critical items not allowed to be left at the delivery address (or with a neighbour) unless the purchaser is there ? Seems far too far over the top to me. Strange world/society we're creating.

lets have some sympathy for the delivery person here....they are trying to get the job done as quickly as possible and have been told they must do this.
