Mobile Phone Consumer Query

I have a Galaxy A5 2017 mobile phone under a two year contract with Tesco.
The contract expires in August of this year.
Just recently a small pinprick sized blue dot has appeared on the screen.
Not that big but your eye is drawn to it when you look at the screen. It's annoying.
Googled it and apparently it is a dead pixel which may or may not get bigger.

Took the phone this morning to the Tesco mobile shop and explained as above. The assistant looked up my account and said "It will be all right as you are due a new phone in August."
I explained that I was intending to go SIM only when the contract ends. If the phone is developing a fault I would prefer it to be fixed or exchanged before the warranty ends in August.
I asked would it get worse and was told probably not but no certainty that it wouldn't worsen.
What is my position? Am I entitled to a fix now or an exchange.
Any advice would be grateful as I need to know my legal position before visiting Tesco again.

Just because you are in contract for their mobile service does not mean that you have a 2 year warranty on your phone.
Do you have Tesco Protect or Tesco Phone Insurance?
The website says 'If your device develops a fault after 30 days, please call our Customer Care on 0345 301 4455'
