Just had some passport photos taken at Max Spiellman

The info given with photos says to visit the passport renewal site and when prompted , to enter your photo code

My question is - does it mean that the photo has been sent to the passport web site by Max Spiellman ?

At a shop, get a digital copy of your photo. Some shops can also give you a photo code. When you apply online you will be shown how to use the code to retrieve your digital photo.

From some booths in the UK and abroad, you’ll be able to get a photo code with your printed photos. Again you will be shown how to use the code to retrieve your digital photo.

However the photo code is a new service and may not be available yet from photo booths or shops in your area.
I don't know how it works but i think it's unlikely the passport office will want to hold copies of everyone's pictures who may or may not apply- more likely the passport office will just pick yours up from Max Speillman's records once you give them permission
Putting the two links below together, it seems to me that the Passport Agency will be able to access your photo via the code - but they certainly could make things a bit clearer in my opinion!

Thanks - Before today I had no idea that you could apply on line for a renewal

So do i take it the Passport office do not require signatures ?
I understand that during the application process, you will print off a declaration form which needs signing and then posting off.

Sorry - this link appears to be the start of the application process:-

I'd go to the Post Office! :-)
Tilly . . . although this appears to be a new Gov.UK (BETA) service, last year I was able to use a similar online facility for handling "probate" registration and deal with "IHT" liability for a close relative who died. I have to say it made the process a lot easier and was very straightforward/simple to operate. My passport expires next year and, based upon my experience, I will certainly give it a go to renew it!
