Briefly, my son received a letter from a finance company saying there had been an application in his name for a loan. The personal details were correct.
He rang his bank on Friday and alerted them in case of anything happening on his account.
This morning he rang the finance company who told him a few of these applications were being received. On their checking, it appears that the details are being garnered from Companies House.
Ok, many years ago he and a friend formed a company in order to procure a prop making licence and job. This never materialised, so the 'company' was closed.
On phoning Companies House this morning, and explaining to the girl that records held there were sufficient to enable identity theft, her reply was that he must get a court order to have details removed "if there proves to be a threat against you".
So now my questions,
How do you get a court order, and what costs are involved?
Is there anywhere else he can go to have this put right?
Many thanks for reading.

eek a court order sounds expensive and you dont know that it is the CH information

I was cloned three times within a month or two and joined CIFAS - they basically put a flag on financial data and say further questions may be warranted
- so loans should be harder to get - hence get the loans before joing CIFAS
its a bout twenty quid a year
the sub is for a year or two as they say they dont want the whole of England on its books

and as a consequence I put up with all sorts of financial queries - clearly in calls I have initiated rather than cold calls
