My late father in law left money in his will to my eldest son which is due to him in July when he turns 18. My husband is concerned that his estranged sister will make it v difficult for my son to receive this money. How will the solicitors pay this money to my son - they do not have our current address, etc.

Perhaps you need to let them know the address, Sher.
the solicitors will write to the beneficiary and say
where do you want us pay the moolah ?

and he will reply .....
If you know who the solicitors or trustees are write to them with new address. What does sis have to do with It? Is she a trustee? There is prob nothing she can do.

Don't know who the solicitors are and my husband will not communicate with his sister to find out. I presume the solicitors would check on current address somehow (his sister has our old address).
Sherr......we had to find a will but didn't know which solicitor had been used....we just contacted all the solicitors in the area the person who'd made the will would have been likely to use....x
There may not be any solicitors. Get a copy of the grant of probate from the probate registry. If there are solicitors on that they are a good start.

But honestly if the sis is the trustee how is she meant to pay the money if you haven't communicated the address?!

Thanks all - will probably get my son to write to his aunt and inform her of our address. Husband will not communicate with her in anyway and I'm keeping out of it.
Payment of any sum due will be made by cheque or bank transfer in exchange for your son providing proper identification to establish
that he is the person named in the will and also executing a signed receipt and discharge in favour of the Trustees so the sooner that you establish who the solicitors are and contact them the better.
