What Happens If You Get A Parcel Which Is Not Yours?

A courier delivered a parcel to me - yes, actually addressed to me - which is not mine. There was a letter enclosed to someone else - certainly not me. I sent an email to the sellers and asked them to arrange to pick up the parcel or alternatively to send me a stamped address label and I would take it to the Post Office. I would not pay myself as I could see no way of getting my money back. I also pointed out that it was not my responsibility. I think I have done the right thing. Does anyone know how long I should keep it or what else I should do? You have never let me down!

it's not a mobile is it?
If you do not hear from the seller I would take it to a post office.

No!! Actually it is a kimono - not exactly my choice of wear (I'm 90). Can you imagine a 90 year old woman in a kimono (stop laughing you lot).
lol bednobs
I read the post and immediately thought of a mobile - was going to ask the same question , before i noticed your reply

The Post Office want money! And no way of getting it back.
Hi Star xx

When you emailed them, did you give them a time limit, say 14-21 days for them to respond?

(I like kimonos)
Yes, I've still got the Samsung Galaxy in the original packaging. Still no request to send it to anybody.
There is a time limit for the owner to arrange collection or claim it, not sure how long. (a Month ??) But you do not need to do more than you have already done. By the way a real Kimono is VERY expensive !!
A kimono would make a very fetching lightweight summer dressing gown for a lady of any age.
Local Police told me to keep the phone for six weeks from date of receipt, I could then do as I wish with it, two and a half weeks to go.

I would charge 'them' for storage
Who would I charge, I know the retailer but not the purchaser.
hence ' them '
Ah Bazile, I'll do that, do you have an address for them?
Don't 90 year old Japanese women wear kimonos ?
Why the talk of mobiles? Have I missed something?
nailit - there's a scam floating around which starts with you being sent a mobile phone that you haven't ordered.
