Any Dr's or nurses out there? I'm desperate for help! Sorry this might be long but hang in there please. Can't sleep. Really don't know what is going on. I admit I don't drink half enough of what I should do but water is so bland and apart from that I can only drink black tea and 1 or 2 small bottles of cranberry juice a day.

So because of that I guess the Infection I have started in my right kidney, as I was getting a sharp twinge which was increasing in frequency. I drank water non-stop for a day, maybe a little bit of relief but it didn't go, and constantly back and forth to the toilet. Tried to book appointment to see Dr but all gone, had to phone out of hours number. Got an appointment that evening.

Dr said I have a urine infection as she saw traces of blood in my urine?? and the best way to treat it is with an antibiotic called Trimethoprim. So, I was prescribed that twice a day for 3 days. Tomorrow morning (Thursday) is the final dose and it's moved/spread to my bladder I think and making me feel like I'm burning but it doesn't burn when I 'go'??

What is causing this to spread/move and why aren't the antibiotics working? I can't take antibiotics at a normal adult strength because of the severe IBS and an intolerance I have to them, and I have a huge fear of feeling/being sick.

Sitting here in bed, frequent trips to the toilet, drinking water , I'm scared, panicky, anxious and feel lonely, as well as discomfort.

I must get well for the 24th July as someone very special that I haven't seen for a long time is staying for a few days. Such typical and awful timing.

I'm going to have to phone the out of hours number again and tell them it's spreading or moving.
Would constantly going to the toilet cause the sensation of burning in my bladder and the outer area or something else?

Please help!

More than anything you sound extremely worried, anxious and as if you think you are the only person this has ever happened to and are all alone with it, and it's a lot to bear. Relax, it sounds very much as if you just have cystitis- lots of people get it, I have had it and sometimes it takes more than one course of antibiotics to get rid of it. It's painful, burny and horrible and you feel as if you want to go to the loo a lot. Calm down, likely that's all it is, if so it's a very minor thing in the big scheme of things, although unpleasant. Drink a sensible amount of water per day, not gallons on end for one day and then an egg cup full after that, but something around 8-12 tumblers per day, and stop worrying so much. See your Dr and explain what has happened, or the pharmacist failing all else, but please don't work yourself up into a tizz and start googling all sorts of things you really probably haven't got. Get some sleep and deal with it in the morning xxx
Excellent answer by kvalidir and i have nothing to add.
pharmacy can sell you over the counter remedies... no big deal...
Lisa, relax and have a word with your pharmacist. All the help you need is there.
a three day course of antibiotics is barely anything (expecially at a rwduced dose) and probably wont have even started working yet
Lisa......been thinkin.
It sounds as though you have a small kidney stone which has moved from your kidney down into your bladder which "may" be causing the problem.
Antibiotics would have no effect and it would explain your symtomatology. Continue to drink plenty and perhaps today you will get a sharp pain (down below)and pass the offending stone.
good point Sqad..cystitis is nowt...but kidney stones can be very painful..
LOL ^^^^ well thank you maam.
tee hee..can I be your surgery receptionist ? Nobody will get past me..honest !! lol..xx

Thanks for your replies. I went to the Dr at the surgery I go to and he didn't know what it was but prescribed me more of the Trimethoprim until Monday.
Bladder feels uncomfortable the most, I just hope this hurries up clears away.

Sqd, would anything show up if I was given a scan of some sort do you know?
Lisa....yes a C-T scan would certainly show, even the smallest of bladder stones.
An Ultrasound would also be useful as would ordinary X-Rays of your kidneys.

Things aren't improving, thought they were yesterday. Today woke up with aches in my right side and back, radiating towards the left side. Got a foul taste and smell in my nose, loss of appetite, have lost 3 pounds in weight and I can't afford to lose more as I'm down to 6st 4 now. Just tried to force myself to have toast with a topping, got half way through and started feeling really sick.

With this now and all the other health problems I experience on a daily basis I just want to end it all...
It'stime to visit your GP.
you need medical intervention NOW... phone for home visit ..do NOT put this off any longer.. if your own GP does not know..that is simply not good enough.....ask for hossie referral or take yourself into A and E ....
are you alone ? get a friend or neighbour , anyone in have them call and INSIST on a home visit and do not be fobbed off..this must be investigated properly and .."have a few anti biotics 'cos I don't really know " attitude is NOT acceptable
Get some attention today Lisa, please.
Calm down..........this is not going to go away in a couple of days.
I am sure that nothing needs immediate medical attention and will settle......however, if it would reassure you, then go to A&E.
