right folks before you all start judging i have a conviction and my employer knows about it and the whole lot so chill. I am moving posts to a new job for this I have to complete an ACCESSNI check (basically a DBS) check I think its a standard one, in the new post i may have to go to a college campus for work an odd time here and there i know the abh conviction will show up will that mean i will be barred as it wasnt an act against a child granted its an assault conviction but surely that shouldnt matter all the students at the campus are 18+ and i will never even see a student but I need the check nonetheless advice not judgment please

I don't think we can answer this - it really depends on your new employer I would have thought. To me, the prognosis would be favourable given the information you have outlined.

Perhaps one of our regular law-persons will be able to help you more accurately (but at least this will bump you back into Latest Posts)
yes it depends what the new employer feels they should do with the information they have and how they think it may impact onthe job. Best to be up front and explain it all to them. If we were the employer it would not be an issue the way you have described it.

i have been honest from the outset spoke to work and received a reprimand at the time from management I got a promotion ban but I have changed jobs since then just a sideways move, I just hope that it doesn't affect the move granted I made a mistake and I held my hands up from the start pleaded guilty at the earliest opportunity and have moved on as best I can with my life got married bought a home and had a beautiful child however I do not take lightly what I done but I cant let it define my life forever thanks for all your replies. any other info would be welcome. thanks again
Good luck
It sounds as if your employer knows you really well and is fully aware of what happened in the past. I don't think you would have been offered this job if they were at all worried about you. So...good luck.

thanks for all your answers with regards to this i just need some clarity the fact that i will not exactly be working with children or vulnerable adults I just happen to be in the same place they are should hopefully mean something.
A conviction for ABH or any assault is NEVER spent as regards an enhanced ASSESSNI or DBS check , it will always show up.
With such a conviction you can never work with children or 'vulnerable' people.
A child is defined as under 16 but a 'vulnerable' person can be any age.
Vulnerable people includes those with mental health problems or learning difficulties as well as the elderly.
To work in a collage you WILL need the enhanced check not the standard one as there can be 'vulnerable' people studying there.
I do not think you will be allowed to work in a job where you may come into contact with vulnerable people, sorry.
