Reading the pamphlet that came with my state pension letter it states that you must inform DWP if you go into hospital. Does anyone know why? Do they stop your pension whilst in hospital? If so, how can they do that. It is your entitlement for what you have paid in over the years.

It shouldn't be affected from what I can see, other benefits can be.

So why do they need to know?
Might it affect pension credit or carers allowance/DLA type additions
Sometimes it's simply to collate figures and as stated in the link some benefits are affected.
