I was accused maliciously of stealing some things from my sisters home while she was in hospital. It was officially recorded as a crime and I was formally interviewed although not under caution. The police decided there was no case to answer and not to take any further action. Will my name now be on Police files?

Sorry, can't help other than suggest you ask the police, but I'll bump it back onto Latest Posts and hopefully someone may see it who can help.

However I have just posted an answer to your other question-previously unanswered- from 2006, although I suspect it may be too late
oo er taken a few days on this - sozza

erm make a data access request to the police force holding the info about you.
the police are subject to the Data Protection act and so you can ask to see info about YOURSELF by making this access request.

and here is how you do it for the Met
http://content.met.police.uk/Article/Making-a-subject-access-request/1400005855548/1400005855548

and if your own area police dont have a portal
sort of do the met one but change the names

to instead of " to the head honcho of the met" put in
" to the Chief Constable of Lampshire" or who ever your chief constable is
I thought you were gonna ask:
now how do I scrow my false accuser ?
much much more difficult if not impossible

Thank you both. Yes Fiction factory the Matlock thing is long gone but at least Peter saw my last worry. I will take your advice Peter and ask for an access report. There's no point in trying to screw her for money as she has zilch anyway and I won't give her any which I think is why she decided to make this accusation. But I do think now I will be "out" when she next comes calling...
Were you arrested?
Did you go to the interview without a lawyer?
When you were interviewed, did it take place in a room and was it taped?
"It was officially recorded as a crime "

Then the simple answer is that you are most probably named on a regionally filed crime report including the outcome.
You have answered your own question ''It was officially recorded as a crime''
If it has been ' 'officially recorded'' then obviously it is on the files.
It is just that this time no further action is being taken.
The information will remain on file and if at sometime in the future more information comes to light then this information can be added to the new information to decide if there is now sufficient information/evidence to proceed with a case.

Thank you every one. I appreciate all your help. I've never been involved with the police before and it was all quite a shock. Eddie51 it was all a complete fabrication so "no further information will come to light" but you've confirmed my thoughts. I think it's finally time to officially disown her.
