hi there....i bought a watch off ebay for £29.99 but unfortunately it is too small. they have agreed that i can send it back, but want £4.65 in admin fees.....which they have not described they are for. i purchased it off amazon - there was no mention of these fees and can i do anything about them? it seems highly unfair that i have to pay to send the thing back, and lose nearly a fiver. mtia.....lisa x

So, where did you purchase it, off Ebay or Amazon? You state both in your posting. If it was off Ebay, go to their customer services and ask if the company is allowed to do that. I would think that Amazon too have a customer services department. it won't cost you anything to ask them. Good luck!
Such fees including restocking fees, admin fees, handling fees are illegal under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2014

s.34(8) The trader must not impose any fee on the consumer in respect of the reimbursement.

sorry.....amazon x
Question Author
thank you, hc......does that relate to all purchases? or just ones that are online? x
Online, telphone or post only.

If you buy from a shop you have no legal right to return the goods unless they are faulty, not as described or not of satisfactory quality
Also, the seller must refund the cost the cost of the outward postage but unless it states otherwise in the contract the buyer must pay the return postage and cannot claim it back.

Question Author
see.....it didn't even say how big it was, so i was surprised it was so small as i have several other sekonda watches and they are all fine. i don't see why i should be penalised for not knowing that! x
I found a bit that says
"Will I be refunded any return postage costs?
We'll refund your return costs on items sold and/or fulfilled by Amazon, up to our standard delivery option cost, if:

you received an incorrect item, or
you received a damaged item, or
you received a defective item."

They may say they sent you the size you asked for so it's not their error.
