Hi,

I recvd a letter today from a solicitor informing me that my wife has filed for divorce and they "would not need to make a claim for costs against me".

Could someone please explain what that means and advise me as to whether I should use a solicitor to reply? She's using Legal Aid and I can't afford legal representation. If I'm agreeable will I have to pay anything?

Thanks

There is no fee for responding to a divorce petition, which appears to be all that is required. (If you're happy for the divorce to go ahead you don't even need to respond): https://www.gov.uk/divorce/respond-to-a-divorce-petition

Thanks Buenchico

Will I have to pay any fees going forward or will her Legal Aid cover it all? I'm not contesting it.
You're not the one applying to the courts, so there should be no fees to pay.
