Can a registered gas fitter remove an old gas meter no longer in use or does it have to be Saltire (Scottish Gas Fitters)?

The meter belongs to the company that supples/supplied the gas so it's up to them to remove it as it is their property.

Eddie is correct. They may contract the registered fitter but the "liability" has to be with them.
