We have a neighbour who screams obscenities at his partner(?), girlfriend (?) for anything up to nearly an hour at a time. He sounds very violent - there is a lot of banging noises accompanied by f****** c***!! Over and over again.
I called the police (on 101 rather than on 999) and good enough they sent two WCP's round. They rang the bells and knocked on the front door, (it's a block of about 5 flats), but gave up and went away without contact.
A week later someone else must have phoned the police, as three officers came round, spoke to the guy at the main front door, and went away. (I can't believe that they didn't check up on the other person in the flat.)
We had a few days of peace, but he started up again today. As a pensioner, I don't feel that I can tackle him. But what to do???? I really feel that someone is going to be seriously hurt.

I would keep phoning the police, not much else you can do to be honest.

Horrible living next to that. Must be even worse for the poor lassie living with it.
Difficult as the partner needs to want or accept help for much to be done. Is he out of the house for any length of time when you can be sure that she is in alone when you could put an anonymous envelope through the door with some details of groups like Women's Aid?

Maybe unseen in case it causes problems for you with a violent person and (it's beyond me but some people seem to be fine in volatile relationships) even her, you just don't know - or maybe have a word with a Community Officer who could maybe do a similar thing, try to make contact.

We had a problem when I lived in a row of houses owned by the same landlord. I used to hear it a lot as my bedroom was right next to theirs, usually starting with her screaming and slapping then he would seem to snap and be physical back. Numerous people in the houses tried to help but it solved nothing, just damaged more property with him trying to get in to her...then they went and got married at the Registry Office down the road, he got thrown out and barred from the house, she kept letting him back in, she then got warned that if she didn't stop letting him back in (for the good of the other tenants as well as her) she would also be told to leave, they both ended up going, what else do you do???

Thank you Jenna, the Community Officer idea is a good one, particularly as he seems to do it at more or less the same time each day.
Sorry I can not be of any help but thought that you were going to say you heard the scream of passion all night long!

Would that be better or worse than the current situation?
Keep phoning the police as we cannot know if this poor woman is okay or not. At least the police can insist on checking.
Community Officer as others have said is a good one.

DO NOT tackle the guy though. If he hits you then you hit him, you could find yourself in more serious trouble than he would be. I would ignore him if you seem him and pretend he isn't there. I'm sure he is wondering who has called the police before (I would) and you wouldn't want to fuel his fire any more.
Hi all

I really thought i was the only one experiencing this nightmare.

I live in a mid terrace house. The house next door to me is rented out which is now unoccupied. This in itself poses a threat as i will explain soon which is the end or maybe the nightmare continuing. Read my reply and let me know what you think....

A young woman moved in, she had 2 boys. She then moves a man in. The volume from next door was loud. Music on one occasion during the week was blarring out until 1:45am, which point i got out of bed, knocked on their door. No one answered but someone looked through the window at the top of the door. The music then stopped. There would be shouting a lot, i would also hear the children crying. She would shout nastily at them sometimes during the day, which i heard. I contacted the council about the level of noise coming from the house. I then received a letter and was told by the council, next door would also receive a letter. Things calmed down for a couple of weeks.

Over christmas, my dog was barking, this was about 2:00am. I ran upstairs to see what the commotion was and heard banging. It was coming from the back of my house, i opened the bathroom window to see a bloke climbing my outhouse roof which is attached to nextdoors. I went back downstairs, let my dog out and followed her. At this point she was still barking. It turned out to be next doors bloke trying to get in the house via their bathroom window. Next day i got up, looked in my yard to see it was a wreck from smashed plantpots to my outhouse guttering on the floor. I gave the lad a couple of days to knock on my door and fess up to what he had done. This never happended, so i called the police and rang the landlord up. As the landlord owns his own business, he has a receptionist who said that the landlord would contact me about this incident. I didnt hear from the landlord.

In time she and this lad fell out. Another bloke moved in, he was forever shouting at her. On weekends he would have his young daughters round, from a previous relationship. He would shout very nastily at the children now n again at night. You would also hear them having sex loudly. Not long after she met n moved him in, i learnt that her children went to live with her mum. The end of all this trouble they have moved out and owe the landlord money. The landlord said they had rigged the electricty meter to gain free electric.

The tennants have be out of the property 4 weeks now. Two weeks after leaving the property the 2 outhouses to the property got set on fire. Im glad i was downstairs watching TV as i had a head start to get my bloke and dog out of my property. My house was filled with smoke, 2 fire engines arrived to attack the fire. The police then arrived to ask questions etc. This all happended about 2:30am the early hours on a week day. At about 8:30am as the fire had happended a few hours prior, i was sat on my sofa, glanced out of the front window, saw the lad that had moved out of the property 2 weeks prior, walking past my house, which joins the one he and the young woman had moved out of where the outhouses had been set on fire. There was no reason for him to walk down the road where i live and id not seen him or the young woman since they left the property.
A week and and a half later, i was in bed (my bedroom is on the back of the house) when i saw a glowing amber as i was disturbed by a very loud crackling etc. I drew the curtain back quick to see a fire, this time it was next door but one to me going up the road. I was the first to alert my bloke, get the dog and myself out of the property whilst ringing my next door neighbour to get her out of her house. The fire crew came out, police etc. This again happened early hours around 2:30am, also on a week day.

Does anyone have any ideas as to what is going off where i live??!!
