Right, not getting anywhere with the flipping crossword so I am now thinking about doing some sort of craft thing. Obviously don't want to spend a fortune (patience is not my strong point) so has anyone got any ideas on where I should start or a kit I could buy? PS - not at all artistic so it would have to be a by-numbers type thing and I don't own a sewing machine, don't want to any food type thing as 1 - cooker is temperamental, 2 - need to be able to stop doing 'whatever' the thing is at the drop of a hat.
My eyes are fine as is my manual dexterity, I am just looking for something to occupy my mind/time as thing 1 and thing 2 don't need me so much these days (and they are off to school in September and I will be on my own ALL day).
Hi Karen and Fire - its got to be something that I don't need to ask anyone for any help with (as the is no-one for me to ask). Might investigate the quilting starter kit though.
So was I in the begining sher.....I do know how you feel. My kids have flown the nest and are all in Scotland. I have no-one to cook or bake for and I love a baking (well apart from the old man, and he's on a diet!). So I make Jam and Chutney (seasonal I know) and I do a couple or three of crosswords a day and clean. I was thinking of goint to the local care home and seeing if they want a regular visitor for their residents
Hi Mazie - I think a lot of my need for a hobby is preparation for September, two of them going to school at the same time is going to break my heart! I know people will say get a job but arranging child are for five would be so difficult and expensive (we live in the sticks). Whilst I have lots of children I am not overly keen on other peoples children so I won't be volunteering to help out at the primary school so will need to find something to do (or I will be forced to watch day time TV).
Tenrec - probably look more like ransom notes if I tried that! I am going to need step-by-step instructions, maybe cross stitch by numbers (on that stuff you get in primary school where the holes are about 1/2cm apart) - I have high hopes but low skill levels.
Hi sher. I do understand but there must be lots of things you can volunteer for that dont involve Kids...Or thing that you can make that would make you a few Bob...Anyway, I'm off. Night and good luck with your project sher xxxx
If you dont want to go out, I bought a book on glass painting, its quite easy to do, and you can turn the things you paint into lovely cards. You dont have to be good at painting either, you can tranfer the designs. Easy peasy......honest!
