My Dad passed away 4 years ago, and he and my my Mum had time share points with Sunterra, which is now Diamond resorts. Since the change over, DR have steadily increased the maintenance fees each year. My Mum no longer wants the points but Diamond say you cannot just give them back, and unlike before, no one wants to buy them. Looking on the net it would appear that lots of people are in this situation. People refusing to pay are now being chased by debt collectors, despite a lot being elderly, on fixed incomes etc etc.

Has anyone successfully resolved a situation like this

Thanks

i would go to CAB and ask their advice before forking out for a solicitor. Hoepfully someone here will have some better advice for you. good luck love, and dont worry, you will find a solution. xx
We're Diamond members. DRI do have a policy of not buying back points - but we are trying to sell a fixed week and DRI told us that the only time they would consider this was if one of us died and we could produce a death certificate. This was a couple of years ago, so the policy may be more rigid now, but it's worth going back to them and asking again.

You do find that people are selling DRI points on eBay now, here's a typical advert, you won't get much for them but at least you'd be shot of the financial liability, and some people are looking for more points - the last time we spoke to a rep they indicated that to buy new, the cost of purchase is going up considerably in the coming months. You might well find that someone on eBay would snap up your unwanted points. http://www.ebay.co.uk...T&hash=item1e69906e36

I hope this helps.

Thanks for your answers. Ive heard of people selling them on e bay, but to be honest, my Mum just wants rid of them. The fees cost more now than a decent 2 week holiday, and you struggle getting the weeks you want at the resorts you want with Diamond. Im seeing my Solicitor tomorrow on a another matter so might tap her up for a bit of free legal ha ha

Happy New Year, and thanks again
Thanks Shiznit - would you mind letting us know how you get on if you mention it to the solicitors?

I can't say we've ever had trouble exchanging where we've wanted to go, but I understand your wanting to get shot of them under the circumstances. There does appear to be a resale market though.
