Statute barred

Sent off a statute barred letter to a debt collection company, they say i made one payment back in 2007 therefore the debt is still enforceable by them, any advice please, thanks.

I think they are right.
I think it can only become statute barred once no payments are made and they fail to contact you over a period of six years. (Although of course some types of debts are never statute barred.)
and mortgage debts only becom SB after 12 years
they are correct.
Plus a debt cannot be statutute barred after 6 years if there is an oustanding CCJ attached to the debt
