Hey everybody

I was in a bar last Saturday and a argument kicked off between my friends and another group of lads, at the is point it had nothing to do with me, 1 of my friends punched this boy to the floor and in the comotion i got punched or pushed to the floor and landed on top of the boy who was on the floor, i reacted ad punched him a few times in the head. Then i got arrested for ABH.

i had a interview the next day and said i didnt need a solicitor and admitied punching him a couple of times in the head. after the interview the police said he is 'not' pressing charges and there is no cctv. The boy suffered a swollen eye/black eye, a few bruises on his head and a little cut lip.

They granted me bail because they want to get a couple more statements off people who were in the bar.
I have never been arrested for assualt/ABH before but 5 years ago i got arrested twice in the space of 3 months for drunk and disordly and went to court and paid a 30 pound fine, but that was 5 years ago, and i have never been in any trouble since. I am not a violent person at all, I was just in the wrong place at the wrong time.

I have to answer bail in 3 weeks time and could anybody tell me wot is likely to happen to me when i go to police station, and if i go to court and that is ' if ' i go to court.

thanks

Question Author
really, wot the hell did you do??

He is not pressing charges which has got to be the main thing, and there is no cctv.
Also he just suffered a swollen eye/black eye and a few bruises, when the police granted me bail surely they would of sent me to court straight away instead??
//in the comotion i got punched or pushed to the floor and landed on top of the boy who was on the floor, i reacted ad punched him a few times in the head. Then i got arrested for ABH.//

You say in one breath that it was nothing to do with you, then in the next that you waded in. Whether he's pressing charges or not, you've assaulted him. Sounds like you need some new drinking partners.

Yeh when my friends and the other group of lads were arguing it had nothing to do with me, then when my friend punched 1 of the boys to the floor, obvoiusly it errupted and i got punched or pushed to the floor. then i reacted.

Yes i assaulted him, but as he is not pressing charges it helps me out, but i no the police can still get me done, and i didnt break any of his bones and he didnt need hospital treatment. Somebody i know a year ago punched a bloke and broke his jaw, he got charged with GBH, anf he got a big fine and pub watch.

The polce would of sent me str8 to court wudnt they instead of bailing me.

You've said yourself though, that you are bailed while they are waiting to take more statements - which may confirm the case against you, or not.

I know when i go to the police station, they will either charge me and send me to court, give me a caution/public order offence or NFA (no further action).

If it did go to court what can i expect??
