Can someone help me. I am the victim of domestic violence and my partner was charged with assault. He was up in court today and when I phoned to find out how he pleaded the court office advised me that no plea was entered and that he was back up in front of judge next month. I dont understand what this all means.

As far as I an aware,"No Plea Entered" would mean that your partner refused to answer one way or the otherwhen asked to plead "Guilty or Not Guilty",in other words he refused to confirm either way.
Not being legal I can't say what happens next, but I would assume that next time he will be asked to plead again, and if he refuses the trial will go ahead with the "No Plea Entered" in the court proceedings papers.
It is quite common at this stage - particularly if it was the first hearing. Very often, the CPS have not provided the necessary disclosure or sometimes the defendant has not had the time to go through things with his solicitor (particularly if he only got duty at court). At the next hearing I would imagine a plea will be entered.

Thanks peeps for your help. Have tried to contact the CPS Laison team but they wont have file back until monday so will just have to try put out of mind til i get full details.
Hi AtWitsEnd,
The guy will probably not plead until the day of trial at Crown court. Domestic violators are weak individuals. You keep strong and dont give up. Bringing this guy to court whatever the outcome will make you a stronger person and help you overcome the fear that you may have for him. If you are still worried of any reprisals it would be worth while getting a non molestation order in place. He will probably have bail conditions but sometimes they are not has stringent as you would like. If you get a non mol order from the family court it will order him to stay away and if hew breaches it he will be dealt with instantly by the courts. You also give a copy to your local police ststion and they make a note on the system to get you a faster response time if ever required. Take back your power and prosecute to the end. Remember that the sentence is not important. The fact that you are putting right what was wrong will empower you and make you a stronger person. Kind Regards
