A friend of mine (really) has been living with her partner for 15 years. When she became pregnant with their eldest daughter the partners mother put up 10,000 in order for him to purchase a house.

My friend is not on the mortgage or deeds, as rather naively she signed a form stating that she was just a tenant in the property and that the house belongs solely to her partner.

They had their second child 10 years ago, and the relationship has been strained for around 8 years. He wants her to move out and leave the children with him. Obviously she doesn't want to do this and is anxiously waiting to the new co-habitation law to come into force.

Will the document she signed have an effect on the co-habitation law? she has earned more than her partner for the last 6 years, and she has worked for the last 10 years. She points out that he wouldn't have been able to pay the mortgage without her salary.
