Refund On Tickets For Cancelled Event

Evening all,
Could anyone advise please- I bought some tickets in 2020 for an event which was postponed by Covid and has now been cancelled. PayPal won't refund after 180 days. From what I understand the organisers have gone into liquidation. I'm about £200 out of pocket. Is there anything I can do?

If they have gone into liquidation is there not a receiver we can put a claim into? How would you find out who that is?

How did you get the money into PayPal - if you used a bank card then your bank may be liable.

You've not confirmed whether or not your post refers to the firms mentioned in my link above. If it does, although the two companies have stated that they've ceased trading, they haven't yet formally entered liquidation or receivership.

They're both still shown as 'active' on the Companies House register

When such a notice does appear though, it will show the name of the relevant insolvency practitioner. However your chances of getting any money back are very low. As a normal unsecured creditor, you'll be behind secured creditors and official bodies (such as the tax man) in the queue for money. As the companies probably have no money in the bank and don't own anything of value (such as property), I doubt that there will be anything left to pay out to you and to other ticket holders.
