This WAS my plan from September but do you think I could still go ahead with this despite the awful disaster? Obviously not in the north east, but was planning on Osaka. Wondered if they would still be hiring during this time?

I think you would have to be advised by the Embassy, and the school where you were planning to teach, as to whether it's wise to plan this - it does also depend in which part of Japan - Osaka is at the moment not in danger.
