I'm sure this must have been covered before but when I checked it came back with nothing found. However, my nephew normally works from 7 'til 5 everyday but he got a call today (he's got a day off) telling him to report for work tomorrow at 8 and from now on his hours will be 8 'til 6. Surely he has to have at least some weeks advance warning?

it would be reasonable to give some notice but they dont have to, check what it says in contract.
How long has he worked there?
He'll obviously have to check his contract as previously said, however as an example, my own work contract stipulates how many hours I work, and not which particular hours those are, and the icing on the cake, they can even move me to a different store if they so wish- i work in the co op by the way.

Turns out he hasn't a leg to stand on. His original contract stated 8 'til 6 but they changed it to 7 'til 5 a couple of years ago so it turns out he'll just be doing the job he accepted in the first place.

Many thanks anyway!!
I still think he's entitled to a bit of notice in the circumstances
