Hello,

Over a year ago I badly broke my ankle and have had two lots of surgery so far to fix it to no avail. I recently got made redundant and have been looking for work since, I have a had several interviews in the last few weeks or so and I am confident something will come out of at least one of them. During which I have mentioned my previous trouble with my ankle & this has obviously raised concern with employers. I have since found out that I now have to have more surgery to fix my ankle, which will put me in cast for six weeks and then physio for a while - I will be off for about 3 months. The problem I have is at the moment I am claiming Jobseekers allowance which is fine whilst I am seeking work, which I am. But what do I do now I know I need surgery? If I tell employers that I will need at least 3 months off whilst working for them at any point in the next few months, they are obviously not going to employ me! I mentioned this last time I was at the Jobcentre and was advised to get signed off sick until surgery was complete - but am I entitled to ESA? I can physically work in some jobs, its just finding someone who will take me on knowing I am going to be off for a long period of time. Initially I thought I would take a position for now until surgery was due then hand in my notice, but I am on a 48 notice list for sugery. So I would surely be breaking contrcat law by not handing in my notice in time? I am so confused by it all, and want to work to earn some money as my partner is currently paying the rent etc... on a low income. This is very stressfull and confusing, I have tried the directgov website but the page I need isnt working. I am supposed to be getting a call tomorrow to let me know if I got a job or not, do I take it and not mention the leg or do I mention it and not get the role?
Can anyone advise me? Aside from contacting Citizens advice, which I will be doing tomorrow.
