I am just on with writing a covering letter and have a small dilemma. I currently work for a family business carrying out all the finance/bookkeeping side of the company, it is a stand alone position with the advice of an accountant when I require it. I am thinking of applying for a job as a management accountant for a company where I will be working part of a team. Do you think it is wise to say in a covering letter that I would relish the opportunity to work alongside people with more experience/knowledge then myself in order to build on my skills. Or do you think this is not wise as it it sort of highlights that I don't know everything!

Obviously not everyone knows everything but this is one of the reasons I am looking to move jobs as I know there are gaps in my own knowledge and experience and I want to build on them. Also I am currently studying towards my Chartered Institute of Management Accounts exams where practical experience is also required. I want to be honest but I don't want to decrease my chances by putting something that may be off putting! While I'm asking questions - do you think I should state that I work for a family business or would that work against me too!? Peope will no doubt have different opinions but any advice/help greatly appreciated!
