this is my first question on this site and just looking for any advice really.
ive only been in a couple of fairly long relationships before (3 and 5 years), now i single and there is a girl who works in a supermarket i happen to go in every day who i really like. i know i could talk to her but cause of the way i feel and lack of practice i just totally cant think of anything to say to her. just something to break the ice really??

nothing heavy or direct that may make her feel like your a nutter!, just start off with general stuff, comments about how full the supermarket is, or not "Its much quieter here today than normal" kind of thing.

or comment on how abysmal/nice the weather is, the key is to keep it light, friendly and non threatening.

yeah i agree with the nutter bit and that seems to always be in the back of my mind which doesnt help.
trouble with all the other stuff is that now i just seem like some sort of friendly idiot and thats as far as its gone... and i cant keep going on about how its quite windy outside.
oh man
Ask her if the shop sells ice picks .When she say why would you want an ice pick ,just say I wanted speak to you and this was the only thing I coul think of to break the ice She will realiseyou have a sense of humour and realize you would be easy to talk to .Well it beats those cheesy chat up lines you hear about....
lol random!, do you get any vibes from this girl that she may be interested??

is she quite talkative back?

cazzzzzzzzz, yeah, this has been going on for months now and i realise its quite sad. im sure there is something there but 2 problems, cause of zero lack of experience in this i think im probably reading it the wrong way. and then i noticed she seems to be really chatty to everyone who goes in!
Weecalf, if he asks about ice picks he might be treading the boundries of nutterdom, even if she gets the joke!
Question Author
lol thanks weecalf. i wish i could do that

tell her that you are a loser. she will admire your honesty

So unless you say something other than chit chat you will go on forever!

So yes you will have to get more progressive than weather!, If she knows you as a regular she will probably not feel that uncomfortable with you as opposed to a total stranger. maybe some understated compliments might be nice, " I look forward to coming here!" or "this is the best part of the day"

You will have to overcome the feeling of fear, the worst that happens is you find out she isnt interested, on the plus side you will have broken that barrier! which is a good thing.

It is difficult I know but its part of getting back into the swing, try googling some flirting tips as well.

yeah this has already gone on too long. thanks for the advice cazz, its really appreciated
I'd wait til you are sure you are alone in the shop and then hand her a business card or slip of paper with your mobile number or email address on. Either add or say the 'words 'It would be nice to hear from you'. Maybe don't return to the shop for a few days until she rings. If she doesn't ring, I realise you may be too embarrassed to go back in, but at least you'll have a better idea where you stand. Maybe she'll then slip you her number.
Be confident, that's the first thing so she doesnt just see you as another random customer. (also, it helps if you look good, though i supose you already knew that!)

Just general conversation, if you see her everyday and she sees you every day then maybe say "me again!" she'll see you have a sense of humour and its a good conversation starter. Remeber show your interest in her but add interesting things about yourself into the conversation.

Good Luck!
Ask her what her favourite chocolate is , then you can buy some everyday , tell her you are buying them for someone very special .......
or you could go for the direct route , tell her you would love to put her on the conveyor and take her home ....or perhaps even a drink ....
best of luck , a feint heart never won anything ..Go for it ... you have a 50% chance of her saying yes or no .
