There would be the same requirements as for getting into the police force per se. Once you're in, you can apply to specialise, and you'd have to undertake training and exams within the force.
yes,you cant just go into what you want to speacilise in,first you have to train, then you have 2 yrs probation, after all that you can apply to be a slag, because thats all traffic cops are
In Scotland there are no qualifications needed 2 become a police officer so i doubt he needs any qualifications, he wuld probably start in smaller jobs then hav 2 work his way up.
Tell ur son gd luck!
Everyone is correct, basic two years and then there are opportunities to specialise. Traffic officers are trained to a very high standard of driving of cars and motorcycles, fast roads, escorts & pursuit training, vehicle examination, use of speed & breathalyser equipment and in road death investigation - the more unpleasant yet essential part of being a traffic officer, then there are opportunities to specialise within the dept. Why not see if you could arrange to visit your local traffic dept or have a chat with the traffic officers to see if he's still interested and wish him good luck!
Steve, perhaps you should adhere to speed limits/not use a mobile phone/wear a seatbelt/insure or tax your vehicle/not drink & drive etc can't imagine any other reason why you would want to make such a negative remark.
