What should I look out for when joing an umbrella company? I am IT contractor.
Will I get in trouble with the Inland Revenue using an umbrella company that's an offshore company ? Or is that for the company itself to worry about? Can the IR ask me to payloads more or more tax later on investigation, or would be the problem of the umbrella company? Whose problem if the umb company doesn't do things right? Mine or theirs?

I think ultimately any problems will be your responsibility (this is true even if you are a full time employee).

I used an Umbrella company and on the whole it was a good experience. They dealt with everything.

A company that 'employs' you for the duration of your contract.

Stay away from offshore umberellas - tax can bite you years later.

I used www.parasolit.co.uk for 3 years and they were perfect.

I have now moved away from umberella companies to a managed company. If you are outside IR35, go for www.filetravel.co.uk - you get much better (legal) income as you are paid in dividends and expenses and a basic wage.

Anymore questions please ask as ive been using these for some years now...
