Hi - does anyone knwo how I would go about signing up for some overseas voluntary work. I am an excavator driver, and as I am taking about six monts off, I would be able to make use of my time with working in another country - any ideas would be most appreciative.

With VSO etc you woul have to commit for at least 2 years I think. For a shorter period you may be better off choosing a destination and then searching for opportunities in that country through development agencies. This page has many links:

Hmm it's actually a bit of a pain, I looked into giving up some time to do this and it seems unless you are some sort of Doctor they are not intested.

You job just isn't specialised enough for somebody to want to send you half way round the world. (I'm sort of in the same boat so not a criticism). They can spend less money training a local to drive an excavator than it would cost to send and house you.
