I was recently hired at taco bell. I told someone, and they said I should he focusing on a career, and not working at a job meant for teenagers.

I think you should check for very similar question by a user called Abbeylee, but I will help you out and answer the same.

No you should not be ashamed, you should stop concentrating on what others think and concentrate on earning money to pay your bills.

If you ain't got what it takes to be a high flyer do whatever job(s) you can get that you are comfortable with.

Only if the short change the customers, or are rude to them.

working for a living is nothing to be ashamed of

 

Why on earth would you feel ashamed?  You're doing a job, earning money and presumably paying your bills.  

Nobody should feel ashamed of doing an honest day's work.

You can feel proud of any job if you put the effort in to do your best
