Maybe because they need to concentrate on their English first.

I can't think of one... even as a an adult always learning.. ok I did travel down the path of Biology and Physics... and one does hope that children do have an enquiring mind, most I know do.

Steaknife... you don't work for the government in academic mathamatics do you... just saying...

If you were an American from the Bible Belt you might think teaching science could undermine the faith of impressionable young students.

One did border on the side of precaution Sandy... with a username Steaknife... but at the the same time not discourage them from teaching basic science.

It'd be a good reason not to teach science if you knew little about it, or proved unable to pass scientific knowledge on in a way students easily understood.

 

Another good reason is getting fed up of doing that and wanting a change.

there is no good reason.

it's pretty pointless - they will forget most of it over the next 40 or 50 years if they aren't engaged in some scientific endeavour.

It depends what you mean by science, it's a very broad subject. Boiling an egg is science.
