In the US schools are setting up "maker spaces" for students. Is this happening in the UK? If so what is it called?

A quick Google tells me that they seem to be connected not just to schools...ranging from primary up to university level...but also to community groups, libraries, and even small businesses.

At least I know what it is now .... what is it with all these new phrases and job specifications now??
