My Cv Seems To Show Me To Be Too Qualified To Do An Unskilled Part Time Job

I am looking for an unskilled part time job to top up my pension. However, if I'm asked for my CV I wonder if it will be rejected because they will think I'm over qualified, as it shows my HNC qualifications in engineering and work record in engineering design and production. My cv will be totally irrelevant if I'm wanting something like a simple driving or cleaning job for example. Any advice please?

Use your letter of application to work around the problem.

e.g. "After many years of working full-time in sometimes stressful roles, I am now seeking part-time employment (to supplement my pension) performing more routine tasks. I therefore recognise that my c.v. might have little direct relevance to this application but I hope that, together with my references, it will demonstrate my excellent work ethic."
You don't say whether you have been rejected, only that you think you may be - Chris's covering letter suggestion should be adequate IMHO, together with a much-abbreviated CV.
Make a new 'toned down' CV.
Move to Brighton and Hove Dave and you'll be snapped up. Trying to get a cleaner, gardener or odd job man is a nightmare down here. £20/hr and more if you're good.
Think Chris’s answer is perfect.

I think it all depends on how you explain why the job you're applying for is now more suited to your current lifestyle and what you're looking for now. I'd include this in your cover letter/application, and have that answer prepared for the interview. You've got a wealth of experience which can only equip you well to fulfil the role, make good decisions and work hard, so you'd be a catch! As long as you reassure the employer that this is what you're looking for now, you'll be grand
