We’ve just had a new tap fitted in our kitchen.
The tap, which we ourselves bought, cost about £40 or so, from Screwfix. And the plumber charged us £40 to fit it.
Don't think that's far out Vagus.Just had some plumbing work done and those costs are comparable to what we paid.
It'll depend on the tap, why it's leaking, what parts are required, the time taken...and, how much the "call-out" charge is - if any.
(If it just needs a new washer, could you do it yourself?)

Was charged 110 pounds parts and labour 132 pounds.

132 pounds total. 110 pounds plus 22.00 pounds vat .
A leaking tap is usually a worn rubber washer that costs about 20p. If you got a replacement tap, then that could be more costly (B&Q have a pair for £20).
Crikey. I wish my youngest had continued his apprenticeship. He went to Adult Classes and got a qualification of sorts.
Gee whiz !
Did they take all day ?
Check places like YouTube for changing the washer, or whatever.
Was the job straightforward? Changing a tap-washer should be straightforward but if, for example, your stopcock was seized what should be a simple job can turn into a drawn-out nightmare.
Everyone is jumping on replacing a washer.. I expect that most aren't aware that many modern taps have no washers. The old British standard taps have now more or less disappeared, these could nearly always be repaired regardless of how old they were. The modern taps tend to be made abroad and the quality is somewhat lacking.
How far did he travel, did he have the parts in his van, did the water turn off easily.. believe it or not there can be a whole lot more to repairing a tap than fitting a washer.
Any competent plumber should be able to open a stuck stopcock in 5 minutes.
If your tap doesn’t have a washer, it will have a ceramic disc. These are more expensive, but do not cost a fortune, and again, are easy to change.
Sunk - yes but it might warrant replacing the stopcock, which will take longer. If it is an old tap maybe it needed reseating - it all adds to the time (and cost).

That made me smile.. this guy lives in a perfect world.
Sorry got cut off mid sentence.. If you know so much about fitting cartridges, can you tell me how many different types of cartridge's there are. How many different length spindles. How many various diameters and how many different numbers of splines you can get on one spindle. If you come up against one that can't be bought at B&Q.. what happens then.
I fitted my Pegler taps in my kitchen.. a replacement cartridge is £60 .. a tad dearer than 20p.
Our bathroom washbasin was persistently dripping (August this). Phoned a plumber, who came and fixed the tap for £25. We live in West Yorkshire, if it makes any difference.
Sounds very expensive but done and dusted now. Give your stopgcock a little spray with wd40 to stop it seizing again.
