I'm in the process of sending out some speculative CV's to companies that i would quite like to work for. I want to personally address each one to the HR/Personnel Manager, but i would rather not have to telephone each company to find this information out (though i'm not averse to it). Any ideas?

Might not some of these companies have a website which lists personnel, perhaps including the name of their Personnel Manager?

Often they don't - law firms are often very bad for this. They tend to only name the partners, and on the graduate recruitment pages they often say, send your application to... "Graduatte Recruiment, Rich Richer and Richest LLP, London", and fail to give a name.

challam - I'd suggest ringing up. Just ask the receptionist for a name, and avoid giving your own. Lengthy, and perhaps a little costly, but it will give you the edge, so worth it! :-) Good luck! :-)
