...I tried to watch the royal variety show this afternoon on the ITV Hub on my computer. I wanted to see the magician (soldier) but I didn't know when he was on so I tried to fast forward to find his performance. The line across the bottom of the page with small rectangles says there are ten commercial breaks in the show. Every time time I tried to find the magician I was once again forced to endure the same adverts. After five or six times of this experience I gave up. Is there a way of finding a particular piece in a programme without being subjected to this bombardment of the same adverts over and over again.

You can't fast forward to just before each advert break. You have to watch them but can then ff to the next one and so on. I think he was on at about 9ish but I could be wrong.
ITV has a contractual obligation to its advertisers to ensure that the ads can't be skipped, so you're probably trying to do the impossible.

Of course, there's always Youtube ;-)
