Hi, my husband has recently been invited to a test as part of the application process for the Scottish Prison Service. We were just wondering if anyone would be able to give us any information on things he is likely to be asked, what topics he should read up on prior to the test, and generally give any information regarding the application process as a whole? Any help would be really appreciated, and thank you very much in advance.

I can't answer that particular question, but it's quite common to be asked questions like these in any interview:
Can you give an example of when you were in a really difficult position in a previous job and how you solved the problem?
What do you think are your best qualities and can you give (concrete) examples of how you put them to good use.
What is worst fault? Never, ever answer this in a negative way. Instead say something like I am very punctual and expect other people to be the same.
Why did you leave your last job? Never complain about previous bosses, but say something to the effect that it wasn't challenging enough.
Finally they will ask if you have any questions. Obviously never ask about pay, conditions or promotion, instead try and think of something practical they have not covered such as, 'Who do I report to?'
