Yes.
Lol.

If it weren't you'd be a money launderer.
Do you really have to ask this question!

It's either a scam, or you're being asked to launder money.
It's wong, don't do it!
big scam ... and possibly illegal x
So you would have to give them all your bank details to enable them to pay the money in.

That alone should set your alarm bells ringing.
More likely than not to be illegal - keep well clear.
I can't believe that anyone would think that this was anything but a scam.
It puzzles me that people can be so naive to get conned by something as blatantly obvious like this.
"Excuse me, can I have all of your bank/personal details so that I can pay money into your bank account?" ........ "ermm , yea ok then, why not ....."
Trading Standards for your area would probably be interested to hear of this
You have just won 20 billion dollars on the Tibetan lottery, please send £50 (in cash) and your bank details so that we can transfer the money to your account.....right...
Typical money laundering scam. Don't even think about doing it, you WILL be found out and those who are responsible will disappear without trace.
Yes, a scam - but the issue is not that one has to give all your bank details to a third-party. Every time you give out a cheque you give out your bank details to a third-party written on the cheque - so there is absolutely no risk in doing this as it doesn't enable others to access your account. Yet another AB urban myth dispelled.
Presumably the money you pay to them goes out of your account, but the money that is paid in first never clears or the transaction is reversed.
Anyway, welcome to AB. Were we the first port of call for this query?
That's the way the Western Union scams work, I believe. Its a common theme.
That's not a job, that's a racket - would you give a complete stranger your bank account details?
Sweet jaysus! With gullible fools like this, no wonder these scams are as popular as ever.
buildersmate, you're wasting your breath.
And a cheque is worse - it has a signature, but people don't want to believe it.
I came across a transfer scam last year, it involved the scammer paying you 'n' thousand pounds by credit card then you p'aying some business associate of his for some contrived reason, the amount 'n' less your commission, by bankers draught. The scam, if you haven't spotted it is that the banker's draft cannot be cancelled whereas the credit card transfer can.
Boxtops - I gave a complete stranger my bank account details only yesterday when I paid for a service using a cheque from my chequebook. They were written on it in BIG BOLD BLACK LETTERS. Should I be worried that fraud might occur? Should I inform my bank that I gave a complete stranger this information?
