Hello

Let me introduce myself - I am an English teacher who up until recently was at work in a local school where I had been for some considerable time. Then I just dropped out for a couple of years 'to travel'. Now in the space of a week I have seen an advert for a job teaching at a local Adult Education establishment, filled in the application, been interviewed and been offered a job to start in 10 days time.
The Education establishment have not apparently a) contacted my last school employer, b) done any CRB check, c) taken up any sort of references and taken me completely on the merit of the application form.
I haven;t told them that time I said I was travelling I was at Her Majesty's pleasure for kidnapping and imprisoning a teenaged pupil but I have reconciled this in my brain with the fact that I will now be teaching adults not children.
I have just told my wife - who I marrried in prison by the way - and she says 'Oh well! thats alright then'. I did expect more than this as she is rather a typical ed-head who are rather known to be hot-headed.

Thank you for listening and roll on Monday week

John

Come on Corrie
Please give the storyline some credibilty and not give us reason to doubt the system that should be in place to prevent this kind of mis-carriage as far as convicted persons being given jobs like this

Amazing, somebody actually watches this stuff!
I enjoy Corrie, but agree this was completely ridiculous. However, it's only fictitious and just think how long it would take if John had to go through the normal long winded procedures!!
the witness does a lot of adverts, such as the check for life thing, she is a nurse, and one where she is a passenger in a car and she is reading a map but cant see properly cos her glasses need replacing and a hand covered by a jumper pops up and says h.s.a! i really should get out more!
dont forget this is a place where you can just turn up on the street with your suitcase and the first person you speak to just happens to know where there is a flat/house empty on the street and ready to rent and also a job at the factory, roys rolls, the hairdressers or the pub and you cant start as soon as you have dropped your suitcase! but i still watch it and probably always will! lol
seems far fetched but we'll have to see how the story pans out. They wouldn't do a CRB check before the interview , nor would they check with General teaching Council or take up references, but they should do so later
What's the problem - Ken Barlow was picking up supply slots shen he'd been out of education for over twenty years!
