Hi all. I've decided to do a Law Course with the open university. It's been 16 years since I did my A Levels and wondered if anyone could recommend any books that help you get back into the mindset of learning? Sort of tips for note taking and essay writing etc Thanks.

Grab yourself a copy of the book called "Learning the Law" by Glanville Williams.

What course are you doing Aliflump?

Bachelor of Law. Will be starting the Intro to Law in Oct. it's something I'm interested in so will see how it goes.
Excellent. Best of luck to you. It's awfully hard work, but very worth while.

Thank you. I'm trying to prepare myself for all the work but I'm sure I'll under estimate it!!!
I recently completed a distance-learning degree in Catholic theology (at the age of 57). Because I think I'm a clever clogs I thought it would be easy. It wasn't. Getting red lines through my work from priests and nuns was also weird. My tip - communicate with other students as often as possible. Look at each others' work. My principal tutor said there was only one guaranteed result at the end of the course - that I'd be a confirmed atheist!. Good luck.
Have a look at mind mapping techniques, Ali. It doesn't work for everyone but it might help you.

The OU has courses specifically for those re-entering study. I did something similar when I first studied with the OU about 15 years ago. (Humanities with History)

Apologies if I’ve got the wrong end of the stick but the above website seems to me like they write your assignments for you? How will I ever learn anything. It says it isn’t plagiarism but surely if I pass that work off as my own, it is. Think I’ll stay away from that kind of thing
