Hi,we bought an end-terraced house from a well-established property developer off-plan. Although it was off-plan, they had this architectural 3-D structure that shows the plan of the estate to be built, the houses, the parking spaces, any garages, windows etc. Ours had 4 windows by the side of it, which we could see since we're end-terraced. We completed about 3 months ago, and I had always wondered why there was only 1 window down the side of our house when the plan drawing on the platform in the sales office said 4 (their sales advisor had even told us 4 too). I just went past the sales office today and looked at the plan again, and there are 4 windows on the miniature of our house on there!


The other end-terraced was more expensive than ours coz the garden was a bit wider (although it only had 2 windows down the side), but we'd gone for this one as it had more windows (4 windows on the plan 3-D drawing).


What can I do? Can I claim compensation or is it something one just has to accept? Is it possible the plan is just some odd drawing that we all have to accept whether or not its the same when finally built? The other end-terraced built property has 2 windows as drawn on the plan.

 The sales blurbs and site model to which you refer are not binding - they are indicative only. Any drawings or plans and any relevant wording in the Contract for Sale which you completed are legally binding, so look there. If there is nothing there it will be argued against you that you saw the house whilst it was being built, saw it before you completed, have lived there for three months and did not complain and that a wall with one opening only is much better structurally and thermally than a wall with three openings and more expensive to provide, so therefore you have a substantial freebie benefit.

Thanks a lot zmudge. I' guess I'll let it go then. Thought I might be able to claim something :).  Will also0 check the contract for sale.
